"Anchors Aweigh!" Navy Strength Winterville Gin Release Celebration
Hoist the main and set sail! With Winterville Gins earning two Gold Medals at this year's San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the next treasure in the Winterville lineup is on the horizon.
Clear Spirits Distiller, Jerry McCall, wanted pay homage to a classic style of gin, with his very own Navy Strength Winterville Gin. At one point in time, British sailors were paid in gin, and to ensure that the quality of the gin was not compromised, they would pour the gin onto gunpowder and try to light it. If the gin caught fire and burned, it was proved to be strong enough to be considered payment, which is where the term "proof" came from in regard to spirits. Over time, Navy Strength gin became a popularized type of gin and must be at least 57% alcohol by volume or 114 proof. With this new release, we think you will agree, that Navy Strength Winterville Gin is just as smooth as the original, while allowing all 13 botanicals to truly shine with a more intense flavor profile.
We will also be releasing a very limited Barrel Rested Winterville Gin that has spent 1 year in a used Fiddler Syncopation Cask! Jerry adjusted the botanicals of the Barrel Rested Winterville Gin to specifically pair with the characteristics introduced by the charred white oak barrel. This specific barrel is very unique, as it was originally used to age Fiddler Syncopation, which is both a bourbon & a single malt, made from 100% malted "bloody butcher" heirloom corn. Only 30 bottles available!
Beat the heat with specialty tropical cocktails and slushies, yacht rock tunes, and a bourbon barrel boat race! We will also have food available for purchase in the tasting room by Sauce Queen!
Both new Winterville releases are available for purchase at checkout, but the tasting room will be open to the public for the event!
