The Awafi Kitchen
Awafi is back at Mamaleh's Delicatessen, for a seated dinner. As a celebration of the end of the fall harvest, the meal will feature Ingriye ("in-gree-yah"), a roasted eggplant dish with Iraqi style tomato sauce. Back in Baghdad, fall is also the season for eggplant and tomato, and would be when this dish was commonly served. Ingriyeh is always seen on the table at our Rosh Hashanah (Jewish new year) celebrations.
