We’re gearing up to release our first Export Stout, complete with a dedicated launch party!
The idea for the beer came about last year when our Brewer Jamaar Lowe pitched it as a way to celebrate Black History Month, and more recently he put together an invite that sums up his feelings about the project:
“I’ve been working in the craft beer industry for the better half of a decade and I think it’s high-time we celebrate folks who look like me and devote ourselves to brewing and generally creating enjoyment for those around us.
So! I’d like to invite you to a beer release party we’re hosting at the brewpub on February 15th from 6-9pm with food, drink, and good company. The homie SOJI will be spinning tracks to set the vibe. The swanky new half of the brewpub is reserved for us to kick it. And honestly, I’m just stoked to connect with other Black, brown, racialized, and allied folks who help support and uplift the industry!
I’m also proud that as part of this project, Bellwoods will be donating funds to the Afri-Can Food Basket, an organization that’s dedicated to championing Food Justice and Food Sovereignty for our people. I truly believe that access to food is access to culture. Deprivation from either is a major barrier for folks entering our trade [or any career].”
This event is free and open to the public — you can RSVP by registering for a ticket if you'd like to, but we will not be checking tickets at the door. Space is first come, first serve.
