Back to the Future is hosted by NBC News and MSNBC anchor Willie Geist with special guest speaker Paul Greenberg, author of American Catch: The Fight for our Local Seafood.
This 90-guest event will showcase a menu of seafood currently or historically abundant in New York Harbor. We will discuss the diverse reasons NY Harbor isn’t in peak health, the history and ecology of oysters in NY Harbor, how pollution has affected NY Harbor as a food system, and what NY Harbor might look like with billions of oysters and millions of people working together to restore its health.
Featured chefs include Mike DeFonzo of P.J. Clarke's, Kerry Heffernan of Grand Banks/Summer Ops, Rob Eggleston of Seamore's, David Seigal of Cull & Pistol, and Po Shing of Lobster Place Sushi. Each chef participating in the event also participates in Billion Oyster Project's Shell Collection Program.
