Blank slate or chameleon. Either way you look at it, Chardonnay is mind-boggling in its flexibility. The dry wines produced from Chardonnay are more responsive to wine making - how they are pressed, how the juice is fermented, and the wine matured - than any other white grape. In the vineyard, Chardonnay can dance to almost any beat. In general, there are grape varietals that prefer relatively warm temperature and others, cool ones. Chardonnay is as happy in the warm regions of Australia as it is in nippy Chablis, France. It can produce good, and stylistically different wine in either climate.
Join us for an exploration of Chardonnay where we will be showcasing different styles and regions in addition to the range of Chardonnays we make here at Black Ankle. This seminar will encourage discussions surrounding common perceptions, misconceptions, and bringing to light some of the lesser-known aspects of this classic varietal.
Light food accompaniments will be provided.
