As the second instalment of our Gastronomy Series, we're excited to welcome Michelin-starred chef and cookbook author George Mendes to Blue Apple Beach.
George is the chef behind Aldea, a Michelin-starred fixture in NYC, as well as Lupulo and Veranda and an exciting upcoming Portuguese concept soon to be announced. American-Portuguese, George worked for David Bouley and Toqueville in New York and Alain Passard's Arpege in Paris before opening Aldea. He is also the author of My Portugal: Recipes & Stories (Abrams).
On Friday March 17th, George will join Blue Apple Beach executive chef Pedro Mosqueda to host a private ticketed dinner, with proceeds being donated to the Green Apple Foundation, Blue Apple's charitable arm and Cartagena's first glass recycling organization. This year, Green Apple aims to raise $140,000 to establish an industrial scale glass recycling centre in the city of Cartagena.
Guests will travel to and from the island in a luxury speedboat and enjoy a multi-course family-style feast, co-created by chefs Mendes and Mosqueda, combining their international influences and celebrating local Colombian ingredients. A wine and cocktail pairing is included.
Each ticket includes boat transfers to and from Blue Apple, dinner and drink pairings.
The Green Apple Foundation creates jobs in underserved communities and reduces the waste produced by the hospitality industry.
