Join us at Paco Tapas on the 26th February for a wine dinner hosted by Jonatan Garcia Lima, of Suertes del Marqués in Tenerife.
Tenerife represents one of the most exciting wine regions in Spain, with an ancient wine history and a unique story of indigenous grape varieties. Suertes are regarded as the island's top producer. The northern side of the island of Tenerife is covered with lush green slopes that climb up the volcanic face of the mountains, and it is here in the Orotava Valley that you can find incredible centuries-old vines grown in a native trellising method known as 'trenzado' - literally, 'braided'. These are some of the oldest vines in the world, and produce naturally balanced and concentrated wine as a result of their unique circumstance. We were thrilled to visit last year as Jonatan opened his new winery with a celebration of the 'new wave' of Spanish wine, and now we look forward to welcoming him here.
We will be pouring a handful of Jonatan's bottlings alongside a menu of complementary classics, where we will be able to see a really exciting side to these wines alongside food and understand how they communicate a vivid story of the incredible place where they were grown.
