What is a dessert tasting?
A dessert tasting is a tasting menu that consists of mostly dessert sample sized dishes.
What’s on the menu? Is it the same pastries you serve during the day?
The dessert tastings at Castle & Coal will be blind tastings since we’re creating desserts that revolves around availability of the season. We won’t be serving the pastries we serve during the day. It is a completely different aspect.
How big are the portion size?
The sizes of our plates are smaller than the desserts you get after a meal. It is a 2-4 bites per plate.
Can I share one tasting with a friend?
1 tasting menu per person, like other restaurants that offer tasting menus. It is an experience per person, and each plate, even though they have the same components as everyone else, is unique in their own way.
What if I have a dietary restriction?
We try to accommodate dietary restrictions. Please let us know ahead of time so we can plan ahead.
I don’t like certain types of dessert or ingredient.
Since the tastings are based on availability and seasonality, we advise people to be open minded during the dessert tasting. We accommodate dietary restrictions but substitutions due to dislikes of ingredients, we cannot do. Thank you for understanding
What time does it start?
The dessert tasting starts at 6pm. Every course is plated at once.
What type of seating?
It will be bar seating with a couple tables for larger parties. We do recommend guests to come to the pass to take pictures and ask questions about the desserts.
