Kick your house plant game up a notch with the art of Kokedama! Kokedama, literally translated from Japanese means “moss ball”, is a ball of soil, covered with moss, on which an ornamental plant grows. The idea has its origins in Japan, where it is a combination of the nearai (literally “root wash,” but meaning “no pot”) bonsai and kusamono planting styles.
Join us in our heated event tent located behind the Gift Shop as we show you how to move beyond pots and grow indoor greenery in this fun alternative fashion. These methods can also be applied to be used outdoors when the weather warms. After completing our kokedama project, we will learn another great way to use moss by mounting house plants so they can be enjoyed beyond just growing them in pots. We will provide all materials needed for these projects including plants, moss, soil, mounting material, and more.
This workshop will be held outdoors, under the cover of a tent, with patio heaters: please dress accordingly.
