Come and feast! Experience great food and conversation about the father of Italian cuisine in the year of his bicentennial. Celebrate the 200th anniversary of Pellegrino Artusi, the author of the bible of Italian chefs, “La scienza in cucina e l’arte di mangiar bene” (Science in the kitchen and the art of eating well).
Originally a silk merchant, Artusi brought his passion for science, health and food to the entire nation of Italy. Writing only two decades after the unification of Italy, Artusi was the first to include recipes from all the different regions of Italy in a single cookbook (without flattening the differences). He is often credited with establishing a truly national Italian cuisine for the first time, and even the French cook Auguste Escoffier took inspiration from him.
You'll hear what makes him revolutionary even today, learn about Italy’s year-long celebration of Artusi heritage, explore opportunities to experience it firsthand and most importantly enjoy an extraordinary meal designed by Artusi himself (with a little help from Casa Artusi and Eastside). Andiamo a mangiare!
This event is a collaboration between Casa Artusi, Esperienza, Global Minnesota and Eastside restaurant. The 4-course tasting menu and program is $75 per person with optional wine pairings for an additional $45.
