The success of California wine in the 1980s and 1990s featured bold, powerful white and red wines led by Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon that showcased heavy oak, extracted fruit and high alcohol levels. This cemented a style recognized around the world as “Californian”.
Fortunately, over the past two decades a set of producers have sought to counter this phenomenon with wines that rely less on oak and alcohol and more on cooler sites, higher acid, and balanced fruit. The resulting wines are different than the prototypical style. They are undeniably Californian, but another expression all together.
For this evenings program we will be joined by Robert McFarlane of Potomac Selections as he will guide us through tastings from producers including Matthiason, Lioco, Hirsch, Arnot-Roberts & Folk Machine. A ticket for the experience is $129 per person plus tax and service. Spaces are limited. Reserve your place here.
