Join us for Fifty-Third Winery and Vineyard’s 2nd annual Winegrowing Education Series. This is a great experience for the adventurous wine lover, as this 8-session series offers participants a hands-on focus of viticulture and winemaking as we move through the 2023 growing season to the harvest of our estate vines.
From February through September, we will meet at the production building on the first Saturday of the month at 11:00 am. Each session will begin with a brief overview of tasks the vineyard crew are currently focused on and the goings-on of the last month. Afterward, we will move into the vineyard to experience the winegrowing activity firsthand by tending to a selection of the vines.
Each seminar, limited to 25 people, will be taught by Tyler Maddox, Vineyard Manager, and Katalin Magyar-Ragosta, Cellar Master, and will end with light hors d’oeuvres and a wine tasting.
Participants who complete ALL 8 SESSIONS will be invited to take part in bottling and will be gifted three bottles of wine. Signup for these classes will be held two weeks before each session at $45/person for each session held.
Please note that although we will be engaging in very light work, each participant must be physically fit to walk and perform basic manual labor in the vineyard.
Future topics include bud thinning, shoot tucking, trellis clipping, hedging, leaf-pulling, netting, harvest, and more.
