Small Town Artillery are a Rock & Roll band with a horn section, originally from Kaslo, British Columbia. Founding members and blood brothers, Tom and Derek van Deursen, have been playing together for 20 years. They are signed to JumpAttack! Records and are currently self-managed.
In 2019 they played more than 70 shows, including highlights such as headlining Edge Of The World Festival on Haida Gwaii, the Holland stage at Kaslo Jazz Etc. Festival, and organizing, hosting & headlining their own Festival on September 7th, called East Van Block Party. They completed their first tour in Ontario, BC, opening up for critically-acclaimed Canadian funk band Five Alarm Funk (FAF) in September, ending the tour for an admirably packed MOD club in Toronto. The year ended with a Boxing Day show at the Commodore Ballroom with FAF, STA delivering a performance proving they are growing in prowess as the stages get bigger along with the songs.
In 2018 they were chosen as one of the top 100 bands in Canada by CBC Searchlight judges, signed to Jump Attack! Records out of East Vancouver, and released their 3rd LP: “Don’t Talk Away The Magic”, which won an Akademia Award for “Best Rock Album 2018”.
They booked themselves a 42 date cross country tour for spring 2020, spanning 8 Provinces & 2.5 months - however, COVID took it down and the band switched tact to throwing small, intimate concerts in outdoor spaces around BC. They booked & played 14 carefully planned outdoor concerts in the summer of 2020.
2021 sees them working on completing the recording of over 20 new songs, and preparing their most fearsome and delightful stage show yet.
