FHG Beverage Director Carlin Karr writes: "In January 2013, I went on a trip to Friuli with Bobby and Lachlan, I had some free time while Bobby and Lachlan were working on their Scarpetta wines to visit one winery, and Bobby advised that it be Petrussa. I had never had the wines before, as they were not in the CO market at the time, so I headed over to the village of Prepotto and met Lorena Tosetto, proprietor of Petrussa. To say the winery is small is an understatement. Petrussa is TINY, but for being so small, they make a significant variety of native varieties and produce truly incredible wines. The most striking are their delicious reds. Their Schioppettino is the best example of the indigenous variety - spicy and aromatic. Their “Rosso Petrussa” is old vine Merlot that is the perfect example of just how great Merlot from this part of the world can be - with aromatics of ripe red apple skin. I left that day with an ex-cellar sheet for a local importer to bring the wines into CO and we have been pouring them at Frasca non-stop since. Lorena will be joining us once again for an intimate evening at Frasca and we are thrilled to have her back. We will feature her Friulano, Rosso Petrussa, Schioppettino, Riserva Schioppettino S. Elena, and a special 2016 Schioppettino from 3 liter that we have been hanging on to for the perfect occasion!"
