Join the Jester King Farm team for our Shroom Forge event/workshops on Sunday, February 26th!
We'll be partnering with the Central Texas Mycological Society and Smallhold for three mycology workshops on the Jester King Farm, followed by a CTMS Myco Happy Hour featuring specialty dishes from Jester King Kitchen and Snörkel, our farmhouse ale brewed with alderwood smoked sea salt and oyster mushrooms.
11:30-12:30 “Bucket-Tek” Cultivation
–Low-tech mushroom cultivation workshop using pre-drilled 5-gallon buckets. Buckets available for purchase onsite, but you're welcome to BYOBucket. Don't buy anything new. Let's recycle. Any container with holes in it will work including a cardboard box. Examples: 2-5 gallon bucket or sturdy planter pot, laundry basket, milk crate, or crate for vegetables (https://bit.ly/3JYlpXZ), wire mesh container like a bird house (https://bit.ly/3Xkweqv) or strawberry pot (https://thd.co/3RKExKW). Any container with holes in it will work. Do not buy anything new, there are many ways to upcycle and use these materials.
1:00-2:00 Myco-Compost
–Composting workshop utilizing the strength of blue oyster mushroom mycelium and its ability to break down food waste into nutrient-rich compost.
2:30-3:30 Fungi in the Garden
–An in-depth workshop discussing fungi's role in the soil food web and how to grow mushrooms in a garden.
11:00-4:00 Myco Craft Table
–Anytime during the workshops, visit our Myco craft table. Learn to make Texas Star Mushrooms and much more.
4:00-5:00 Myco Happy Hour with CTMS
–Free event open to all! Enjoy mushroom specials all day from the JK Kitchen and Snörkel on tap and in cans. We'll also have live metal music from Dayeater and Fuzz Lightyear starting at 4pm on the Brewery Patio.
Ticket includes one free beer or non-alcoholic beverage during or after workshops. Please wear closed-toed shoes, pants and long sleeves, a hat, and bring sunscreen and a refillable water bottle.
