We all have a deep and mysterious well of creativity awaiting us beyond our daily mind chatter. In the modern overload of stimulation, information, and distraction, cultivating moments of stillness can settle our swirling thoughts like sediment in a jar of water, allowing the light of clarity to illuminate our inner truths. The wisdom of our ancestors may help us to rediscover our true nature now more than ever.
In this workshop, you will experience how Chinese traditional tea and the ceremony calms the body and mind, allowing your deeper connection with yourself to reawaken. Jin Yun Fu’s Tea Master Olivia will perform the Song Dynasty whisked tea ceremony that has only been revived over the last few years in China after its thousand year absence. Each person will be able to enjoy a cup of whisked tea and traditional tea pastry. In shared inspiration with the origins of this ceremony hailing from the 宋代 Song Dynasty—a time of deep thought, poetry, philosophy, art, and tea culture—you will also cultivate your own creative practice as the tea ceremony will be paired with a poetry workshop lead by a local poet, Rachel Higson. In honoring our own expression through our experience of Chinese traditional tea, we may reawaken the wisdom awaiting us in these ancient practices.
