Early April is always a time of giddy anticipation on the farm, as the Johan team awaits the beginning of lambing season with childlike excitement. For weeks, we’ve been rising at dawn — like kids on Christmas morning — hoping to be greeted by the first of what we expected to be a dozen new lambs. But the days passed, and still, no wobbly-legged kids appeared.
Nathan reached out to our local veterinarian, who delivered the disappointing news: not a single ewe was pregnant this year.
This is one of the many unpredictable realities of biodynamic and regenerative farming, where we choose to let nature lead the way as much as possible.
That said, the spirit of the season lives on! The event will go ahead, and our beloved ewes will still have their moment in the spotlight. We’ll be bringing our cuddliest, most charismatic sheep up to the tasting room for a special opportunity to meet them up close and share in the joy they bring — no lambs required.
This is a family friendly event, with free entry to anyone under 21.
We recommend bringing blankets and lawn chairs for the best views!
The fantastic duo at Alea Bakery will be providing fresh spring fare paired with our wine flight! Simply select the add-on when purchasing tickets!
*Unfortunately, we cannot have any dogs or other animals at this event.
