Shifting the Lens returns to the Bubble Room for another guest chef series that showcases people, cuisines and flavors that have historically been overlooked by traditional winery culinary and pairing programs. Our second chef in the series this year, Chef Damarr Brown offers his take on Southern and African diaspora fare, presenting a fully curated five-course tasting menu paired with small-lot sparkling and still wines created by Winemaker Nicole Hitchcock. During both seating times, Chef Brown
will join diners in person to discuss his vision and inspiration for each dish.
With a wealth of accolades, including Top Chef Season 19 final four, Food & Wine Magazine’s Best New Chef in America 2022, and the 2023 James Beard Award for Emerging Chef, Chef Brown has made a name for himself in the Chicago culinary scene. Growing up cooking alongside his mother, who supported his skills in the kitchen, Chef Brown hopes to honor his matriarchs and share their stories through every dish. Bringing Southern traditions and the cuisines of the African diaspora to the table at his
co-owned restaurant Virtue, Chef Brown believes that food has the power to connect people from a variety of backgrounds, fostering inclusivity and a culture of equity.
Seatings are offered at 12pm and 3pm on Thursdays and Friday, and at 12pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Each experience lasts approximately 2.5 hours. $200 per person; $175 for Club J Signature and Experience members; Luxe and Elegance members can use the Bubble Room tickets included in their memberships for the Daytime Shifting the Lens Experience.
