As a young man, Mike loved working with his hands creating liquid art. Fast forward 36 years and his passion is still what drives him every day making wines that showcase the land which they are grown on.
"Our approach to making wines starts in the vineyards in the Spring, harvest in the Fall, and through barrel aging, as one integrated whole. We are laser focused to make wines that speak to the virtues of the terror while not manipulating the wine, rather helping it become its best."
Mike graduated from UC-Davis and interned at Trefethen. Winemaking is a multi-generational family affair for the Duffy's: Mike's passion started from watching his Dad make wine at home, and now that passion carries on to Mike and Nicol's sons, who are either on a similar path via UC-Davis or involved in the family Winery already.
"Our wines embody the natural and distinct characteristics of the area from where the grapes are grown. We meticulously farm each vine so the winemaking process can be as hands-off as possible. This approach ensures the complexity and finesse we expect for each wine, vintage after vintage. The grapes are hand-harvested at ideal ripeness where only the finest are selected at harvest."
