Naramata Inn is proud to participate in the National Chowder Chowdown Festival in February 2021! Chef Ned Bell has long been a champion of sustainable seafood and supporting healthy oceans, and this year, he is again rising to the Chowder Chowdown challenge laid down by the Ocean Wise Seafood program.
Join us by purchasing a take-out container of our Creamy Road 17 Arctic Char Chowder - with organic potatoes and foraged Naramata sumac – to enjoy at home, knowing part of the purchase price goes to the non-profit Ocean Wise Seafood program to support oceans that are healthy and flourishing for generations to come.
A limited number of one-litre containers of frozen chowder are available for $25 each and serve four people. For each container, $5 will be donated to Ocean Wise. Chowder is available to pick-up at Naramata Inn on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from February 8 to 26, between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm while supplies last. Book your “ticket” for whichever day suits you best. If you would like to purchase more than one container of chowder, just purchase multiple tickets.
To prepare your chowder, thaw it in the fridge, then place in a medium sized pot, add 1 cup of whipping cream (not provided), 3 tbsp of chopped chives and 2 tbsp chopped flat leaf parsley (both suggested), bring to a simmer and cook until piping hot. Ladle into bowls and garnish with the sumac included with your chowder.
Chowder Ingredients (as packaged): Road 17 Arctic char, clam broth, white wine, whole milk, onions, potatoes, corn, butter, all-purpose flour, sumac, black pepper, salt
