The first bit of our two part wine dinner series for this week of May welcomes winemaker Andrea Mullineux to the Hill Country. What better way to welcome her than having friend of Otto's & La Bergerie and baker extraordinaire, Josh Raymer as guest chef for the evening?
Andrea hails from the Swartland where she and her husband Chris have sought to reestablish a sense of terroir in the region after the South African wine industry took a more global approach in the nineties. The accolades have since accumulated, including International Winemaker of the Year by Wine Enthusiast in 2016. She and Chris have worked incredibly hard to distinguish their corner of the world and make wine that is true to place with a particular emphasis on Chenin Blanc and Syrah.
Josh Raymer has been quietly elevating the gastronomic scene in the Hill Country through his passion for bread baking and his incredible pizzas from his mobile wood fired oven. Though this should be a cue to his skills as a chef, many of his followers have not experienced what Josh can do in the kitchen. Honestly, Josh's style is a perfect fit for Andrea's wines, not to be missed!
