To repeat Louis Armstrong’s famous reply when asked what swing meant: “If you have to ask, you’ll never know.” The Parker Hot Five pay tribute to the enduring legacy of Armstrong's remarkable Hot Five and Hot Seven recordings of 1925-1928, on which the inventive trumpeter and vocalist emerged as the first great jazz soloist and a truly innovative and transcendent force in jazz history.
Tonight’s show features Ryan Davis on piano, Ben Triesch on bass, Jeremy Bruch on drums, Kris Kimura on woodwinds, and special guest Ed Sherry on trumpet.
