As clinicians, we should be prepared to hold space for anything a client may disclose throughout the course of treatment and determine how to proceed with treatment in the most ethical way possible. When considering client disclosures of attraction to minors, many of us have our own strong feelings and reactions; however, we are in a unique position to assess the potential for harm and take steps to ensure the safety of all parties and reduce the distress of our clients. This workshop will explore the process of how a client may disclose attraction to minors, how to assess for safety and risk concerns, and self-of-the-therapist work to determine if you may need to refer out or areas to continue with treatment.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will analyze the processes of client disclosure of attraction to minors in therapy and risk assessment (CKA: I, J)
Participants will identify their own stereotypes and biases around responding to and working with clients who disclose attraction to minors (CKA: A, O, ST6)
Participants will compare differential diagnoses and describe areas to assess clients who disclose potential attraction to minors. (CKA: ST2)
This workshop will be held online (PST) on July 22nd, 9 am- 12 pm
Completion of this course acquires 3 CEs
Scholarships are available for those who need them.
