Erik Koskinen Band w/ Molly Maher & Her Disbelievers - Sunday Sessions Rooftop Concert Series - September 10
Erik Koskinen is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, whose music is not categorized by sub-genres. Stylistically he is on his own. Influenced by roots music of the Americas and the world, the rhythmic integrity and musical tone are as important as the lyrical content and the artistic intent. Blending American folk, country, rock-n-roll, and blues, Erik Koskinen and his top-shelf band realize a sound that is distinctive and fresh while familiar and classic. Koskinen's albums are a lyrical and musical metaphor of America's theaters of war, of history, of relationships, and of the reflections in the mirror. Knowing but not didactic, Koskinen channels the ways of Whitman and reverently enters the anthology of uniquely crafted wry songs with the likes of Woody Guthrie and Ry Cooder while speaking as plainly as your neighbor.
Molly Maher resides on the border of Americana and the Blues and moves beautifully between them, blending simmering guitars and cutting lyrics. With an authentic and sage voice her live shows are an unforgettable experience. A songwriter with compelling depth and soul with songs that ring true, her singing is a fine balance of deep and soulful, w/ guitar driven country-folk-jams. Joined for this special show with her long time trusty Disbelievers: Erik Koskinen, Paul Bergen, Steve Murray, Lars Larson all incredibly accomplished musicians in their own right.
