Sister restaurant to The Black Swan at Oldstead and both proud to hold a Michelin star, Roots is a relaxed tasting-menu restaurant located in the heart of historic York.

Set in a characterful 19th-century building on Marygate, Roots was opened in 2018 by chef director Tommy Banks and restaurateur Matthew Lockwood, to bring a taste of Oldstead to the city.
