The State Room Restaurant is proud to host the renowned John T. Williams, founder of Frog's Leap Winery, as he takes us on a journey through the story of his winery located in Rutherford, the heart of Napa Valley. We will be tasting through five select wines, each paired with a dish uniquely curated by our team of State Room Chefs.
John began his winemaking journey working at Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, when a bottle of their 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon won the Paris Tasting in 1975, famously putting Napa Valley on the wine map and proving to the world that California was a force to be reckoned with! In 1978, John took the 'leap' with his former partner, Larry Turley, and planted their first vines in 1978, with their first harvest in 1981. After a time of growth, John and Larry disbanded in 1994, and John moved Frog's Leap Winery to its forever home in Rutherford within the Napa Valley.
Dedicated to sustainable viticulture and quality since the beginning, Frog's Leap vineyards have been certified organic since 1989 and dry-farmed since planting.
