The wines of Cristiana Tiberio and her small family winery are soulful, authentic expressions of a new generation in an ancient village within Abruzzo. Cristiana and her brother, Antonio, took over their family domaine in 2008, and have been making some of Italy’s most compelling indigenous varietal wines of the last 20 years. Having isolated true Trebbiano Abruzzese in their vineyards and propagated it through "selection massal", the Tiberio family has quickly made a name for Trebbiano Abruzzese with their highly sought after Fonte Canale bottling of the variety.
Mineral, long lived, and driven by a spine of acidity, Fonte Canale is without question, one of Italy’s greatest white wines. Similar attention to detail is paid to Tiberio’s Pecorino, Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo and multiple, individualistic bottlings of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. Often an overlooked variety, Montepulciano can be monolithic and lacking complexity, but not from Tiberio. The estate Montepulciano will turn any wine lover into a Montepulciano believer, and the recent “Archivio” bottling is complex with layers of intensity and dimension.
This dinner will be an intimate opportunity to experience one of Italy’s greatest regional winemakers up close and personal. Dine with Cristiana Tiberio as she shares her wealth of knowledge.
