An hour east of Beaune, nestled in the foothills of the French Alps, the Jura is a tiny gem of a wine region, and in many ways Burgundy's dark reflection. The soils are the same--but closer to the mountains everything gets a little different. There's pinot noir and chardonnay! --and then other grapes join the chorus. There are beautiful, pale reds and exotic, dense whites that recall great Burgundy--and then there's oddball regional specialties you can't find anywhere else. We'll begin unpacking this complicated, tiny place through the lens of one of the most classic wine regions of the world and see what it has to offer.
