Friday 5: Brunch in NYC
We’re halfway through National Brunch Month—and there are many more places to highlight. For this installment of Friday 5, we’re eating our way through New York City. Here’s where you can find chocolate-vanilla pancakes, perfectly-fried chicken & waffles, and delicious dim sum.
From Old San Juan to the South Bronx, Chocobar specializes in innovative chocolate-infused fare made with the highest-quality Caribbean grown cacao. Brunch, which is served daily, includes bloody marys made with chocolate bitters, marbled waffles, vanilla-chocolate pancakes, jamón y queso, and steak & eggs. Take home a box of freshly-baked pastelerías.
A Timeless Brunch
Since taking over, executive chef Sylvain Delpique has updated this menu with fresh interpretations of timeless New York favorites and throwback dishes from another era. Start with brunch punch for two, then choose from luxurious, yet familiar dishes, like jumbo shrimp cocktail with brandy cocktail sauce, artichoke quiche, or a Croque Madame, made with French bistro ham and sauce Mornay.
Brunch on a Boat
Brunch on a boat? Sign us up. Pilot, the seasonal oyster bar aboard one of America’s most prized wooden schooners, is back open for business. Join them for a weekend brunch of sustainably-harvested oysters, caviar hash browns, Maine lobster rolls, and Andouille sausage, served with hominy cheddar grits. Pair you meal with refreshing, nautically-inspired cocktails and stunning skyline views.
Here is your Midtown dim sum destination. Head chef Peter He (何少岩) is an expert in Sichuan cooking. At CHILI 美麗, his traditional cuisine is served in an intimate dining room with music and art from the 1930s. Gather around for scallion pancakes, shrimp dumplings, braised tofu with crab, spicy wontons, and tea-smoked duck.
Biscuits, Chicken, & Waffles
Brunch in the Bronx this weekend. This Southern-inspired menu features housemade buttermilk biscuits, herb-breaded chicken & waffles with honey butter, and the ultimate brunch burger, topped with bacon, egg, and cheese. To drink? Opt for the bottomless bellinis or house sangria.
