Cooking classes, wine tastings, and cocktail sessions have gone virtual. We’ve put together a stellar line-up of events to put on your radar over the next couple of months. Sip on vintage amaro, roll your own maki, assemble empanadas, and learn to talk about wine like a pro.

At Home with Paul Kahan: A Virtual Cooking Class

The Details:  Learn to cook from the legendary Paul Kahan. Follow along virtually in Kahan’s home kitchen as he walks you through a simple, healthy meal for two. The menu features roasted Ora King salmon, wild rice, maple-glazed honeynut squash, and a winter greens salad.

The Date: Jan. 21st or Feb. 18th.

What to Know: You can pick up your meal kit the day of or the day before. The limited guest list means you get the chance for conversation and questions.

Chef Series: Cooking with Giuseppe Tentori - Cook with Your Kids!

The Details: Join chef Giuseppe Tentori of GT Prime to learn how to make potato gnocchi and Italian sausage in tomato sauce at this interactive kid-friendly Zoom cooking class. One kit includes all the ingredients for a delicious meal for four. Optional wine for the adults.

The Date: Jan. 23rd.

What to Know: Once you confirm your class, you will be sent a private Zoom link to join at the scheduled time. Pick up your kit on the day of the session. Local delivery is available, too.

Valentine's Day Empanada Making Class with "Jezabel's at Home"

The Details:  Can’t decide what to do for Valentine’s Day? Join Jezabel’s for a virtual, hands-on empanada-making class where you’ll learn the secrets behind this Argentine staple. By the end, you’ll be assembling empanadas like a pro.

The Date: Feb. 14th.

What to Know: Your kit includes a whole dinner for two with sides and desserts. Pick it up or have it delivered on Valentine’s Day.

Chef Gavin Kaysen at Home Virtual Cooking Class: Winter Series

The Details:  Chef Gavin Kaysen’s virtual cooking series kicks off next week with a class on roasted pork loin and tropical fruit. Pre-purchase all six cooking classes (they’re hosted twice per month January-March). Each class will focus on embracing winter ingredients with recipes you’ll want to make over and over again.

The Date: Jan. 13th.

What to Know: The day before each class you will be sent a Zoom invitation for a live class. Don’t worry if you can’t make it- you’ll be sent a recording of the live class. You also have the option to purchase the classes alone or add on an ingredient kit to simplify your shopping. Kit pick-up is at Spoon and Stable the day before class.

Roll with Us: A Virtual Maki Class by Sushi-San

The Details: Join master sushi chef Kaze Chan and sake sommelier Daniel Bennett for an interactive and virtual experience about all things maki. Chef Kaze will explain the different types of maki and provide personalized tips on how to make the perfect sushi rice. You’ll get everything you need to make maki at home, including a makisu (bamboo rolling mat).

The Date: Jan. 21st.

What to Know: Book this class by Jan. 19th and pick up your kit from the restaurant on the 21st between 5-5:30 p.m.

WINE SCHOOL: Blind Tasting Basics (Live Virtual Class)

The Details:  “Blind tasting wine isn’t as bewildering as many imagine it to be,” says the team at Denver’s Noble Riot. “In fact, the objective analysis of wine without knowing its identity at first sip can highlight the enjoyment of a fermented grape juice and add layers of intrigue.” Learn how to differentiate between primary and secondary characteristics, analyze structure, determine tannin level, and hone the art of putting it all together—all in one hour.

The Date: Jan. 20th.

What to Know: You’ll taste four mystery wines in total. Blindfold is not required.

San Francisco Champagne Society Virtual Champagne Experience

The Details: Arrange to have a virtual champagne experience over Zoom with champagne enthusiast, Bill Marci. Just place an order for delivery and you’ll receive an email to schedule a date and time. The delivery is good for three 750 ml bottles, which is ideal for four people.

The Date: Available 7/days per week.

What to Know: Bill Marci is especially passionate about proper glassware. Order a glass for everyone in the group so you can experience the wine to its fullest expression. It’s also fun to compare with your current glass of choice.

Café Kitsuné's Super-Naturel Wine Class

The Details: Learn to love natural wine with Café Kitsuné’s very own wine director, Lauren Werst. Tell her what style of wine you like (white, skin-contact, bubbles, etc.) and anything else about your taste and she will gather a curated selection of bottles. The one-hour virtual class includes enough wine for up to four guests.

The Date: Ongoing virtual tastings are available Tuesdays-Saturdays.

What to Know: Class includes two appetizers (miso butter popcorn & sweet potato chips, specialty meat & cheese pairing). Lauren will help schedule your pickup in the West Village.

Dry January Non-Alcoholic Cocktails with Derek Brown of Columbia Room

The Details: “You don’t have to give up drinking adult sophisticated drinks even if you’ve curbed or stopped drinking alcohol,” says the team from the famed cocktail bar, Columbia Room. “There are so many great non-alcoholic ingredients that make complex, sophisticated cocktails sans booze.” Join award-winning writer and bar-owner, Derek Brown, as he walks you through non-alcoholic cocktails in this virtual class.

The Date: Jan. 23rd.

What to Know: Class will cover two unique cocktails and it’s free with the purchase of a kit.

The Violet Hour Holiday Oaxaca Old Fashioned + Margarita Bar Kit + Virtual Class

The Details: Master two classic cocktails at this hour-long virtual class. An expert from The Violet Hour will teach you to make an old fashioned (using tequila and mezcal) and a perfectly-balanced margarita. The kit comes with a shaker set, a jigger, and a bar spoon.

The Date: Jan. 30th.

What to Know: You’ll receive a confirmation email with a Zoom invite. Pickup is available daily between 4-8 p.m.

Billy Sunday Vintage Amaro Tasting

The Details: Attention amaro lovers. Billy Sunday is kicking off their first virtual session of 2021 with a thoughtful amaro tasting. You’ll get to try Vecchio Fernet 1990s 4, Elisir Moka SIS 1970s, and Amaro Cinzano de Mexico 1960s.

The Date: Jan. 30th.

What to Know: Your tasting kit, including a cocktail to enjoy during class, will be available to pick up from Bill Sunday on Friday, Jan. 29th from 5-7 p.m.
