The Real Party is on New Year’s Day
While everyone is busy making New Year’s Eve plans, we’re going to go out a limb and say the real party is happening on New Year’s Day. And by party, we mean you and your loved ones at home making brunch and drinking mimosas, or depending on where you are, at a very intimate brunch at your favorite restaurant. We’re all ready for a new year—make sure to start this one off on a delicious note.
Mediterranean New Year's Brunch
Newcomer Aba came to Austin in October with the flavors of Israel, Lebanon, Turkey, and Greece. Chef CJ Jacobson’s Mediterranean brunch is the perfect way to kick off the new year. It comes with short rib shakshuka, a Jerusalem bagel with smoked salmon spread, muhammara (a hot pepper dip), seasonal berries, and strawberry drop biscuits with strawberry sumac Chantilly crème. Complete your meal with special New Year’s cocktails or wine. This brunch is also available for pickup and delivery in Chicago.
Pajama Brunch Package
This year, Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba! is bringing their famous pajama brunch to the comfort of your home, and this one hits all the right notes: sweet, savory, umami, and boozy. One package feeds two and includes Nutella French toast, patatas bravas, roasted bacon-wrapped dates, brunch paella, and chocolate truffle tarts. Add on a pitcher of sangria. This brunch feast is available all New Year’s weekend long.

You can also add on fresh oysters or fresh clams straight from the Hood Canal.

What better way to spend New Year’s Day than cooking up brunch and sipping on cidermosas at home? This brunch package comes with scrambled eggs, cheddar, scallions, peppered bacon, Belgian waffles with maple syrup and butter, house-cut fries, and fresh fruit. Or go vegan with potato hash and roasted veggies. To drink, add on a cidermosa kit, a bloody mary kit, or a hot chocolate party kit with a bottle of Allen’s Creme de Menthe liqueur.
New Year's Day Hangover Kit
You don’t need a hangover to enjoy Socalo’s Hangover Kit, but if you do have one, consider it cured. One kit includes DIY lamb birria tacos, organic red rice & beans, guacamole and chips, avocado tomatillo & salsa macha, roasted Mexican squash, tortillas, Mexican cheeses, onion, and cilantro. There are several recommended beverage pairings, including a growler of micheladas or a bottle of wine from Mexico’s Valle de Guadalupe.
