Since 2005, Kavalan Distillery in Yilan County has been pioneering the art of Taiwanese single malt. The distillery benefits from the mineral-rich meltwaters from Snow Mountain and ages their whiskies in a unique environment of intense heat and humidity breezed by the Pacific Ocean. This process results in the distinct quality, smoothness, and fruity character for which Kavalan is highly regarded.
Kavalan, named after Yilan County's old name, was founded by entrepreneur Mr. Tien-Tsai Lee with the dream of creating a "century-old" distillery to last for generations. To compete on the global stage, Lee traveled to Scotland and Japan to study the sacred distilleries. Kavalan's highly skilled R&D team carries on the legacy of the late whisky specialist Dr. Jim Swan and is supported by King Car Group's 40+ years of beverage experience and knowledge.
