For eighty years, The Brown Palace Hotel has proudly welcomed the National Western Stock Show’s Grand Champion Steer into its iconic Atrium—an unmistakable moment where Western heritage meets timeless elegance.
Join us for Steer Day 2026, a complimentary, ticketed celebration honoring one of Denver’s most beloved traditions. The afternoon begins with the steer’s signature red-carpet arrival, as both the Grand Champion Steer and Grand Reserve Steer make their ceremonial entrance, escorted by their dedicated handlers, before taking their place beneath the soaring atrium.
Guests are invited to experience this uniquely Denver moment during Afternoon Tea service, with the opportunity to capture a photo with the steers using personal devices. Beverages will be available for purchase throughout the event. While this experience is complimentary, advance ticketing is required due to limited capacity.
Event Guidelines
For safety reasons, petting the steers is not permitted.
- One (1) photo per guest or group will be allowed to ensure all guests have an opportunity and to minimize stress on the animals.
- While photography is traditionally offered, photo opportunities cannot be guaranteed, as this is a live-animal event and animal welfare is our top priority.
