Hello, Catoctin Members:
We will be hosting Members’ Night on Thursday, September 24th & Friday, September 25th from 4–7pm.
During these evenings, the winery will be closed to the public so we can welcome members in a more intimate setting. Light charcuterie will accompany the wines, and members are welcome to drop in anytime during their selected evening.
This after-hours event is complimentary, with each member invited to reserve up to two spots. Space will be limited to 68 guests per evening to maintain an intimate atmosphere.
For September, we invite you to enjoy a side-by-side tasting of two expressions of our second wine, Nocturne: a barrel sample from the 2025 vintage and the 2023 vintage, which has been pulled from our library!
The 2025 Nocturne is a blend of 50% Cabernet Franc, 37% Merlot, 12% Petit Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. After 10 months in barrel, primarily neutral French barriques with a small portion in new 500L Austrian demi-muids, the wine is beginning to show a beautiful balance between ripeness and freshness.
The 2025 growing season began with significant rainfall, but six weeks of sunshine and cooler temperatures leading into harvest allowed the grapes to develop concentration while preserving acidity. We are excited to share a first glimpse of this wine with you!
We will also be pouring the 2023 Nocturne, an excellent red wine from a dry growing season that allowed for exceptional concentration. A blend from three vineyards along the Catoctin Ridge, the wine was matured for 16 months in 33% new French oak. Aromas of violets lead to a palate of ripe plum, soft tannins, and beautifully integrated oak, with a long, seamless finish. The 2023 Nocturne will also be available by the bottle during these two evenings.
