Most wines grown with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot fall into the category of “Bordeaux-style blends.”
These wines often showcase holding power and a firm structure in their youth, but have the potential to evolve into beautifully nuanced, elegant expressions over time.
A 'second wine' or 'second label' refers to a wine that reflects the same winemaking and philosophy of the producer but shows a more approachable, accessible, and fruit driven expression.
As many of you know, Nocturne is the second wine of Catoctin Breeze, and a deep echo of the vintage offering a bit more concentration and structure than Adagio / Fauteux.
After Concerto is assembled and decided on, we take the best of the remaining lots to build a wine that focuses on generosity and accessibility. Have you ever wondered how Nocturne compares to the second wines of Napa, the left bank of Bordeaux, and Italy?
The best way to find out? A blind tasting.
We invite members to an exclusive tasting experience where you’ll sample our latest vintage of Nocturne alongside Bordeaux-style blends from around the world – without knowing which is which. This unique tasting format allows for an unbiased exploration of style, terroir, and craftsmanship.
The event will be hosted by Monika on Saturday, October 17th at 11am in the lounge. She will discuss in depth the various blends, winemaking techniques, and overall stylistic approaches for each of the selected wines for the event.
Tickets are $50 per person and include a sampling of five wines accompanied by light charcuterie.
