Harvest starts a 8 a.m. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes you don't mind getting grape stained. Join in the fun to be had by all ages.
The brix (sugar level) are at 20-25.
Grab a pair of pruners.
Red grapes first.
Snip the threads
Lift off the netting
Roll or fold up and set aside.
Face each other on each side of a row.
With a bucket under the vines.
Cut the stem close to the top of the cluster.
Down they fall.
No stems.
No leaves.
No little immature green grapes.
No dried-up grapes.
Oops, a cluster fell to the ground.
Pick it up.
In the bucket it goes.
Runners exchange full buckets for empty ones.
And the harvesting goes on.
Finished with the red grapes.
On to the white grapes we go.
"Bee" careful.
Knock to the ground and squash any Spotted Lantern-Flies
Opportunity Corridor deer won't be in sight.
It's harvest time.
