Spend an evening at a Japanese friends' home.
A Backyard Gathering of Food, Craft & Tea
This Fourth of July weekend, join us at Lu Cha House in Silver Lake for an intimate evening inspired by everyday life in Japan.
Together we'll cook, plate, eat, and share tea around the table—exploring the food, tools, and hospitality found in Japanese homes today.
Presented in collaboration with Kyoto craft workshop Kanaami Tsuji, the gathering features Japanese home-style dishes (osozai), donabe-cooked rice, seasonal tea curated by Tomoko Imade Dyen of Ocha World, and hands-on use of Kanaami Tsuji's beautifully crafted metal-weaving tools.
More than a cooking class or tea tasting, Everyday Japan is an invitation to participate. Roll up your sleeves, help prepare the meal, pour tea for one another, and gather around the table.
Because sometimes the most memorable part of traveling to Japan isn't the famous restaurant or historic temple.
It's being invited into someone's home.
This weekend, you can do exactly that—without flying to Japan.
