DC Urban Oasis is proud to present an evening with e le aɖe Test Kitchen, an intimate supper club rooted in Black and African stories across the Diaspora led by Chef Selasie Dotse. e le aɖe means “it appeals to the tongue,” paying homage to the chef’s Èʋe-Ghanaian roots. Each course moves through the Diaspora with intention, tracing the flavors, techniques, and ingredients that connect lineage to the present moment. Chef Selasie bridges tradition and innovation, creating a moment that honors ancestral roots and contemporary craft.

CHEF'S BIO
Chef Selasie Dotse is a seasoned culinary professional with over 20 years of experience in fine dining and a parade of Michelin-starred establishments, such as Lazy Bear, Avery, and SPQR. Formally trained at Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, North Carolina, Chef Dotse’s culinary journey began at their mother's side drawing from the rich culinary traditions and techniques of their Èʋe-Ghanaian heritage.
Since then, Chef Dotse has found inspiration in the migration stories of Black food throughout the Diaspora, the expression of regional flavors in the American South where they grew up, and their experience working alongside Mexican chefs in California — all intersecting at roles in acclaimed restaurants like Hi Felicia with Afro-Mexican cuisine and Dōgon with Afro-Caribbean cuisine. As the Founder & Head Chef of e le aɖe Test Kitchen and a member of the James Beard Foundation Legacy Network, Chef Dotse continues to push culinary boundaries and advise emerging chefs.
