As part of our Garden Series featuring creative collaborators, we are excited to welcome Louesa Roebuck and Obi Kaufmann to House of Flowers for “Punk Ikebana: Reimagining the Art of Floral Design.” Join us for a conversation and book signing with the authors; floral installations, monotype prints and wood sculptures by Louesa; as well as a selection of Flowers wines and creative pairings from our in-house culinary team.

About the Collaborators:
Louesa Roebuck is a printmaker, painter, floral artist and author. She began her trajectory as a fine artist (briefly studying printmaking in RISD’s hallowed halls), then cut her teeth in the culinary world with slow food legend Alice Waters at Chez Panisse. She has since made a name for herself as a “peace punk” crafting iconoclastic floral installations with foraged flora from the hills and dales of Ojai and beyond. Louesa is also an accomplished author of 2 books: Foraged Flora and her latest, Punk Ikebana: Reimagining the Art of Floral Design (Cameron Books, Petaluma) -- the inspiration for our event.
Obi Kaufmann, lovingly dubbed as “the modern-day John Muir,” is a naturalist, writer, and illustrator living in Oakland. His first book, California Field Atlas, published in 2017, captivated so many Californians with a guide to our beloved state's ecology and geography. But this book, and his latest books – Coasts of California and Deserts of California – are so much more than a “guide.” Each book is a work of art, featuring hundreds of Obi’s watercolor paintings of maps, wildlife, and our natural landscapes. Last but not least, Obi wrote the poetic forward to Punk Ikebana.
