Born in Japan and raised in Seattle, Tomo has spent more than two decades moving between intimate acoustic folk, exuberant synth pop, and cinematic soundtrack work. His music has been praised by NPR, KEXP, and the New York Times, landed placements in Netflix's House of Ninjas and the Sundance-nominated film Touchy Feely, and his single "Get to Know You" has passed two million streams. He's shared stages with Cornelius, Ron Sexsmith, Fruit Bats, and Stella Donnelly, and collaborated with Dave Matthews, Jeremy Enigk, and Sera Cahoone along the way.
Out November 7th on Porchlight Records/Den Tapes, Ocean is his most personal record yet — a self-produced, ten-song reflection on grief, healing, and holding onto your humanity in a turbulent world. Backed by Yuuki Matthews (The Shins), Abbey Blackwell (Alvvays), and Christopher Icasiano (Fleet Foxes), it drifts through dream pop, orchestral folk, jazz, and psychedelia, held together by a big melodic heart.
