Hambledon Wine Estate provides the ideal venue to study for Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Qualifications. Hambledon Wine Estate has been an Approved Programme Provider for a number of years and are delighted to be restarting the WSET courses in 2025 in our brand new, bespoke teaching facility.
For individuals new to the subject of wine, this qualification provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. It is ideal for those looking to gain basic factual knowledge of a variety of wines.
• Explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell and taste - while also gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately and make food and wine pairings.
• Common wine grapes and their characteristics
• How to store and serve wine
• How to describe wine using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)
Ticket Details
£225 per person to include all course materials, 6 hours of guided study time, all tasting samples (9 wines), buffet style lunch (dietary requirements must be communicated at the time of booking), exam fees.
Course Delivery
The course has a requirement of a minimum of 6 hours of guided study time with an Approved Programme Provider. This is an in-person course, taught at Hambledon Wine Estate, Hampshire. The course begins at 09:15 and finishes at approximately 17:30. There will be a maximum of 14 students on each course.
Assessment
Assessment is by a closed book exam of 30 multiple choice questions, sat over 45 minutes at the end of the 6 hours of guided study time. To pass you must correctly answer 70% of the questions.
Previous Experience
No prior knowledge is required for this course.
Eligibility
Participation is only available to those over the age of 18. You will need to bring photo id on the day of the course in order to sit the exam. Those requiring additional assistance, or who have accessibility concerns, are invited to contact Hambledon Wine Estate prior to booking.
