Here at Hambledon Wine Estate we are great fans of the Chardonnay grape. The majority of our Estate is planted to Chardonnay, where it grows very successfully. Our sunny, south facing vineyards on our estate, on belemnite chalk, provides the perfect environment for growing exceptional Chardonnay.
The versatile Chardonnay grape is the world's most widely planted white grape variety for a good reason. The fruit aromas, body and acidity of Chardonnay are affected by climate; while many of the characteristics commonly associated with Chardonnay, come from winemaking techniques and maturation. This neutrality makes it an extremely versatile grape variety, able to produce a range of styles, and it is loved by winemakers worldwide.
Join us on Thursday 11th June to learn more about this popular grape and the different styles of wine it produces around the world. Eight wines will be shown poured in around 70ml samples over the course of 90 minutes. The wines have been chosen to illustrate Chardonnay’s versatility. The evening will be relaxed and informal, suitable for both the novice wine drinker and those who are further along on their wine journey. They are designed to be fun and engaging, the perfect antidote to a busy day at work, as an aperitif before dinner or why not enjoy a pre tasting pizza in our courtyard?
Each tasting will be led by a member of our Wine Education team, and they look forward to sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm with you. The tastings will last 75-90 minutes.
