Reid Samuel Yalom is a Northern California photographer
whose work has been widely published and exhibited
over a 30-year period. He is a graduate of Stanford University
and the Monterey (Middlebury) Institute of International Studies.
Published works:
One Foot in Romania: Editor Vellant, Bucharest. This is a series of color images taken over a
7-year period, as he explored cities and villages throughout the country with his Romanian
wife, Loredana. The work exhibits a subtle change in image making as he progressed from
an outsider to an adopted son of the country.
Colonial Noir: Images from Mexico, Stanford University Press 2004, a monograph of 72
duotones. A highly personal series of images that combine visual elements of Film Noir,
Surrealism and attempts to capture the essence of Magical Realism.
The American Resting Place: A History of American Cemeteries with author Marilyn Yalom,
Houghton Mifflin, 2008. This book has been called the definitive work on the history of
American cemeteries from pre-columbian times to the present day.
In 2022 he contributed 25 photographs to the best selling German edition of A Matter of Life
and Death by Irv and Marilyn Yalom, Penguin/Random House, 2022.

Black Sea Report. Images of summer from the Romanian Black Sea Coastline, Editor Vellant
Pacific Dreamin’, Images of contemplation and frolicking along California’s coastline.
Other exhibition projects include works on Indonesia, Greece Vietnam, Quebec and
Romania as well as the American West.
Ceramic Sculptor Emil Yanos has been working with clay since
1993. Formally trained in Floral and Graphic Design, his ceramic work
weaves together the best aspects of both disciplines. Through hands-on
experimentation, he has found that working with clay provides an excellent
medium to explore his love of color and texture. The overall feel of his work
