Session #7: Dying Ain't So Bad • Alex Kobzik, MD & Cathy Layba, MD, FACS
You are not immortal. How do we normalize death as a part of life?
Join Dr. Kobzik and Dr. Layba for an open and honest discussion on one of life’s harshest realities.
As intensivists, taking care of Dayton’s sickest patients, they are confronted with end of life decisions day in and day out. Advances in modern medicine have increased our longevity as humans but when are these potentially harmful interventions no longer helpful? They hope to de-stigmatize the process of aging and dying and shed some light on the modern practice of end of life care.
Dr. Kobzik and Dr. Layba share 7 board certifications between them in internal medicine, emergency medicine, critical care, surgery, surgical critical care, and neurocritical care (x2). Trained across multiple disciplines and across the country, their expertise now resides in Dayton.
Joui Wine is normally closed on Tuesdays. Doors will open at 6pm, last call is at 7:30, and all guests must be gone by 8pm. Our kitchen will not be open, but feel free to bring a snack!
