This exciting lineup, hand-selected by Gary Westby, highlights independent estates across Champagne that often handle the vineyard and cellar work themselves, much of it by hand—practices that shape many grower-produced cuvées. Bottlings such as the Chardonnay from the grand crus of Mesnil, Cramant, and Oger by Launois, along with the historic cellar work of Champagne A.D. Coutelas—whose family traces its winemaking in the village back to 1809—show how distinct these sites can be in the glass. Many of these wines arrive in the United States through K&L direct imports, offering a focused look at estates that farm their own vineyards and bottle under their own labels rather than selling fruit to the large houses. 🍾
