Join us for our annual kick-off to the St. Patrick's Day season!
As always, this event brings the best of Ireland and the best of Kansas City together to celebrate the start of the Irish season! For the first time, we will be joined by all of Kansas City's Irish dance schools (O'Riada Manning School of Irish Dance, Driscoll School of Irish Dance, Dowds Irish Dance Academy, the Heartland Irish Dancers, and the Lawrence Irish Dancers) in one packed session, and accompanied by Jump 2-3.
UPDATE: We will be joined at 5:45 by the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, who will announce their dignitaries. We're so excited to help celebrate the Parade's 50th anniversary!
At 6:30, we'll be joined by folk singer Rory Modlinski. Rory fuses the sounds of Appalachia with the traditional and contemporary ballads of Ireland and England, and has appeared onstage with Rory Makem, We Banjo 3, Emma Langford, and many other artists.
We'll end the night at 7:15 with the inimitable Aoife Scott, an award winning folk singer and songwriter based in Dublin, Ireland. Born into the legendary Black Family, Aoife is steadily rising to the top of the traditional and folk music scene, and has long enjoyed success as an established artist in her own right. Fragile and ethereal one minute and strong and vibrant the next, her dynamic and profound vocals explore the emotional depths of her lyrics, leaving the audience entranced.
Aoife has a unique sound. Her music has a broad creative scope but is largely influenced by her own roots in folk and traditional Irish music.
Doors open at 4:30 pm. A food truck will be onsite to keep everyone fed!
Admission is $5 and children under 12 are free.
