Join us for our third Wine Dinner of 2026, curated by Chef Sommelier David Bérubé, celebrating the elegant, ethereal wines of Château de la Font du Loup in the Southern Rhône. We will welcome Mathilde Bachas, the estate’s fifth generation, who works alongside her mother, Anne-Charlotte Mélia-Bachas, to carry on her family’s winemaking tradition.
Set at one of the highest elevations in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the estate’s north-facing vineyards grow in soils with an unusually high proportion of sand, rather than the galets roulés found throughout much of the appellation. These distinctive conditions help shape wines prized for their perfume, freshness and finesse. Its exceptional plots include vines up to 100 years old in the renowned La Crau and Le Puy Rolland sectors.
Anne-Charlotte, granddaughter of the estate’s founder, likes to say she was born under a foudre. She took over from her father, Charles Mélia, in 2002 and today runs the property with her husband, Laurent Bachas. Her approach centers on restraint: gentle extraction, minimal intervention and parcel-by-parcel winemaking, allowing each grape variety and sandy plot to express its character before blending.
Mathilde grew up exploring the cellar, sneaking grapes during harvest and learning at her parents’ side. After training as a sommelier and working in Paris, she returned home to share the estate’s wines and stories, bringing a new generation’s energy to the family adventure.
Font du Loup, meaning “the wolf’s spring,” is named for the natural spring beside the château, where legend says wolves descending from Mont Ventoux stopped to drink. The Mélia family acquired the property in 1942, selling its fruit to négociants until it began bottling its own wines in 1979.
For this special evening Chef Andrea has created a unique seasonal menu showcasing exceptional fall ingredients, with each course thoughtfully crafted to complement these beautiful Rhône wines. Join us for a warm and intimate celebration of family, terroir, and the pleasures of the table.
