Event Details: Join us at Minden Mill Distilling to meet artist, Mark Tompkins and celebrate the start of his gallery exhibit.
This exhibit will be available for viewing at Minden Mill Distilling, July through September.
Beverages will be available for purchase at the bar.
ARTIST BIO: Mark Tompkins studied life drawing and illustration at the renowned ArtCenter College of Design in Los Angeles, where he attended night classes while developing his artistic foundation. After several years working as a graphic artist, he relocated to Northern Nevada, where his passion for fine art flourished.
In Nevada, Tompkins worked as a professional picture framer while immersing himself in the regional art community. His talent and enthusiasm for teaching soon led him to instruct painting classes for both children and adults. Over the years, he has taught through community college programs, Parks and Recreation departments, workshops, and private studio instruction.
Tompkins’ work is deeply inspired by the masters of the early Renaissance, as well as celebrated American artists such as Andrew Wyeth and Maxfield Parrish. His paintings blend classical influence with a distinctive contemporary realism and a strong emotional connection to nature.
Working in oils, watercolor, and acrylics, Tompkins is especially known for his luminous Sierra landscapes, wildlife, and portraiture. His award-winning work has been featured in numerous group exhibitions and competitions throughout the region. Today, he continues to paint the beauty of the Sierra Nevada while sharing his knowledge and passion for art with students and collectors alike.
