Join us for an in-depth explanation American single malt, and how the new category is being shaped today. Gian Nelson, the master distiller behind the First Millionaire, will explain the full process to make a single malt whisky and explain how California’s unique weather provides the perfect aging ability when making our Sacramento Single Malt. Depot Distillery Director of Spirits Anthony will craft a classic scotch cocktail featuring our barley whiskey and make a seasonal rendition using our fresh local produce.
MEET YOUR HOSTS
Gian Nelson can be seen distilling throughout Napa Valley and is currently the Master Distiller at Ruins Distillery, and the cofounder of Jano Spirits, a California Agave Spirits brand. After spending time in the Marines, Gian wanted to pursue a career that he could be creative and hardworking, while having a connection to the raw material he was working with. Wine and spirits fit the bill, and after spending 4 years creating wine Gian stepping into the world of distillation and has been doing so for 7 years.
Anthony Attanasio is our very own Director of Spirits and shares with us his endless expertise and hospitality background. A Culinary Institute of America graduate, Anthony has cut his teeth at the likes of Morimoto Napa, Bottega Napa Valley, and MICHAEL MINA in San Francisco.
