Barrels don’t just age whiskey they create it. In this hands-on, highly educational session, guests will explore the role of wood in whiskey production, guided by Master Blender Lauren Patz.
Participants will taste Redwood Empire Whiskeys to experience their evolution over time, then connect those lessons to our finished Bottled-in-Bond Grizzly Beast Bourbon and Rocket Top Rye. Topics include barrel size, wood type, seasoning, char and toast levels, and how each variable influences aroma, flavor and structure. The class will also explore Bottled-in-Bond as a concept of “finished” whiskey and discuss barrels as intentional flavor tools rather than passive vessels.
